Over the past 20 years Egmont Park Stud established itself as one of the leading harness racing studs in Australia. With the sale of the stud to Burns Bloodstock, the Burns family - Ray and Marina and sons Glenn and Paul are all keen to see the tradition of quality continue. Winners in excess of $30 million have been bred at Egmont Park Stud. Mark and Sue Litchwark, the founders of the stud, certainly got the formula right and we intend to stick to it.
Breeders can be assured that the stud will continue to operate much the same as it always has under the careful management of studmaster Gordon Eadie. Egmont Park Stud will still offer year-round agistment for mares, foals and weanlings. We are able to cater to all breeding needs.
Egmont Park is based on limestone country rich in calcium and trace elements essential for strong bone development in young horses. Almost half the property is cultivated with the balance being wooded grassland. Fodder crops are grown year round to ensure there is enough nutrient rich grazing and crops for grain and quality hay are harvested for supplementary feeding.
The breeding scene is constantly changing and Egmont Park are constantly on the lookout for Stallions to enhance the quality of bloodlines available to our clients mares.
Egmont Park Stud continues to breed top quality yearlings with the sole purpose of selling these yearlings and weanlings at the leading sales.
While many of our clients breed to race, more and more clients are starting to join us at the yearling sales.
